Ethnic minority participation through education and employment
The Wallonian Centre for Mediation with Roma and Travellers organises in Namur (Belgium) a conference on access to rights and mediation on the 25th of September. The association was created in 2003 to encourage the development of halting sites for travellers within municipalities. As the association rapidly realised that the needs exceed the question of temporary stay, the scope of actions was extended to social support, education, and mediation. The association was then mobilized by the public services to extend their support to Roma families. Regional stakeholders are invited to share their experiences with regard to families in situation of poverty and the role of mediators. Click here to download the agenda!

The province of Padua organized on the 27th of June 2014 its regional consultation meeting on Public Employment Services for a multicultural labour market. The economic downturn which exacerbated the negative opinion that migrant workers represent a threat to the growth and competitiveness has been the main topic of discussion for the group of practitioners. They developed an interactive SWOT analysis session to identify internal and external factors affecting the delivery of services not only for migrants and minorities, but also for workers in general. The summary of the session is available here and the report, including 7 interviews can be downloaded for further information: report RCM Padua.
