Ethnic minority participation through education and employment
The seminars aim both to gather regional actors and to exchange experiences and innovative policy. Each time, the seminar takes place in a different location and tackle a specific need by defining the theme of the conference and site visits. Here are listed the seminars that already took place and the seminar to come, 8 in total.
Nieuwegein: the Kick off meeting took place on the 11th of April 2012. The project has been presented by the lead partners, followed by different presentation on Roma in Belgium, the approach in Nieuwegein and in Antwerp (de8).
Marburg: "Equal Inclusion and Trust as Approach to Human Capital". The conference started with an opening speech of Egon Vaupel, Mayor of the City of Marburg, presenting this city as the heart of social support in Germany as well as its diversity concept. The conference welcomed different speakers presenting policies towards inclusions of Migrants, Refugees and Roma, questionning the issue of integration and introducing good practicies from Lativa and Germany. The 9th of November was devoted to sight visit. The partners of the Labour Plus project had the opportunity visit Kreativa, a project encouraging long-term unemployed women to explore their technical and artistic skill in other areas of work, as well as Praxis GmbH which is an entreprise giving unemployed people advices, training, qualifications and thus job opportunities. A sociologist then gave a workshop about anti-discrimination, presenting different concepts such as acculturative stress and coping strategies.
Alt Empordà: "integrated approach to migrants: inclusion into labour market, human capital and economy" see agenda here.
Santa Cruz: "local strategies to equal and fair employment". The meeting took place on the 11th and 12th of April 2013 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (agenda available here). The city of Alt Empordà presented its strategy regarding community work with women of foreign origin. On the last day, participants will visit the "ataretaco Foundation project"
Sofia: the event in Sofia was both a conference, with invited speakers like the Professor Krastyo Petkov from the University of National and World Economy, and a site visit since participants went to the villages of Vidrare and Pravetz where several good practices take place (school and business).
Nagykallo: the seminar in Nagykallo took place on the 7th and 8th of November. On the first day, the conference was devoted to strategies and examples for Roma integration, trhough schools, urban planning and micro credits. The second day was devoted to workshops and site visit. Click here to access the summary.
